Genuine Temporary Entrant Requirement (GTE)

All students seeking a student visa must prove that they want to gain a quality education in Australia. The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement is not designed to prevent students who, after studying in Australia, gain the skills that Australia requires and then apply for permanent residence.

When you apply for an online student visa, you must provide a personal statement in English addressing the GTE requirement, which requires no more than 300 words (2000 characters) in length. It must address your individual circumstances for studying in Australia.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

Proof Of Fund

You must demonstrate that you have enough funds to cover the course fees, living costs, and travel expenses. The living expenses for 12 months for a single student in Australia is A$21,041. The travelling expenses will be about A$2000.

You can provide proof of income of $62,222 in the past 12 months while applying for the visa.

Apply For Visa Online

Create an account on the Department of Home Affairs’ ImmiAccount online application system. Fill up the details and submit your visa application. You can check the status of your visa application from your ImmiAccount. The visa fee is A$620.

The application must be submitted no later than six weeks before your course commences and no earlier than 12 weeks.

Medical Examination

You may be asked to have medical tests. If so, you will be given a list of tests you have to go through and an identifier called HAP ID.

Visa Interview

After you submit your visa application, you may get a call for interview from Australian High Commission.
