You must have at least 90% to be considered for admission to UG courses. Students must complete one year of the undergraduate program in India or take the IIT Main exam or Feststellungsprüfung (FSP) exam to be eligible for an undergraduate programme in Germany.
Before starting your undergraduate course in Germany, you must attend a Studienkolleg (Preparatory Course).
There is the option of doing the Studienkollegs in the state-run institutes free of cost. You can also do it in private institutes by paying fees.
The course completes in two semesters. Upon completion of the course, one can appear for Feststellungsprüfung (FSP) exam.
You must clear the IELTS or TOEFL tests to demonstrate your proficiency in the English language.
To be admitted to a German-language course at a German university, you must prove that you have sufficient knowledge of German.
Most universities accept a DSH exam (German language exam for university admission), the TestDaF exam (Test German as a foreign language) at level 4 or the Goethe certificate C2. Recently, a certificate from the telc C1 Hochschule exam has also been recognized at all German universities.
Those tests are similar to IELTS or TOEFL but assess German language proficiency.
The eligibility requirements for Master’s programs are less stringent. It is pretty straightforward and similar to other leading study-abroad countries like the USA, UK and the like. You must score 80% in your undergraduate course and clear the IELTS Test.
Students in Germany are not treated equally when it comes to part-time work rules and regulations.
International students must adhere to a few specific restrictions if they come from countries other than EU member states.
International students need to learn all about the laws and regulations pertaining to student employment in Germany so they can avoid getting in trouble later on.
Let us understand these critical rules & regulations-
Germany, one of the world’s leading economies, is an attractive destination for students seeking to settle down. The country is not only a leader in technology and automobile production but also provides its citizens with a high quality of life.
Germany is home to many global corporations, including BMW, Volkswagen, Bosch, Siemens and more. Therefore, students often desire to settle and work there after graduation.
International students can extend their residence permit for up to 18 months after graduation.
Start looking for a job as soon as you finish your final exams or even during your final semester at university, as these 18 months begin immediately.
Remember that during these 18 months, you can work whatever job you can to support yourself until you find full-time work, which can be outside your field of study.
Once you obtain the extended residence permit, you may use the next 18 months to look for a job in Germany related to your field of study.
After you’ve found a position you want, with a minimum one-year contract, you may apply for an EU Blue Card. The EU Blue Card is the primary residence permit for non-EU university graduates who wish to remain and work in Germany. It is valid for four years.
Your employer must pay you a minimum salary of €56,400 per annum to be eligible to apply for EU Blue Card. However, a salary of €43,992 per year is acceptable for professions with a shortage of skilled workers.
After 33 months in Germany, EU Blue Card holders who have fulfilled all the requirements will receive their Settlement Permit. You must have been paying for your pension insurance throughout this time. You must have a clean criminal record from this period.
EU Blue Cardholders may also be eligible for the permit only after 21 months if they have a level B1 of German language proficiency.
After spending eight years in Germany on a settlement permit, you can become a German citizen.
